INQ - Factions 02a - Midian Military Structure

The armed forces of the Midians are organized into distinct formations that follow their basic familial structure. It comprises mostly of specialists, each highly trained and talented within their specific skill sets, but otherwise lacking in others. There are numerous specialist corps, each refered to as an Arm. Soldiers from each arm are then organized into battle groups, or Kampfgruppen.

ARMS

Due to their unique genetic evolution, Midians possess unique abilities beyond that of humans. The abilities differ among Midians of different bloodlines; those that share a common bloodline tend to have similar abilities. As such, each Arm in the Midian forces consists mainly of Midians from the same bloodline.

Some of the Arms that exist in the Midian Armed Forces are:

Gespenst (Wraiths) - Agile, dextrous hunters that wield only throwing weapons and trained in hand to hand combat.
Luftjagers (Airborne Hunters) - Versatile airborne soldiers equipped with jetpacks.
Sturmtruppen (Storm Troopers) - Shock troops. Their superhuman strength allows them to easily wield heavy weapons and melee weapons.
Gerbirgsjager (Mountain Huntsmen) - Mountaineers who are able to negotiate and fight in any terrain.
Pioniere (Pioneer) - Combat engineers. Valuable support units.
Zauberer (Illusionist) - Psychic soldiers that use illusions and mind tricks to deceive the enemy.

Most Midian youths begin their service in more basic roles:

Grenadier - Assault Infantry.
Jager - Light Infantry.
Psychisch - Psychihc warfare troops.

Youth soldiers begin their service in the basic Arms. Youth soldiers are organized to squads typically ranging from 4-7 people, each led and taught by a squad leader, a senior Midian of age 20-30. Squads rotate annually, allowing youths to meet other youths of their bloodline, in turn allowing them to mature through their relationships. Squad leaders determine when a youth has reached a skill and maturity level where they will be fit to train in a specialist role. The youth will be counseled by his Squad Leader on which specialist Arm he is suitable for, but the decision lies with the youth himself.

At this point, the youth is no longer considered a youth, and is henceforth referred to as an adult. After making his decision, the youth is then transferred to his new Arm. Progression in the Arm is determined by several factors, namely leadership, skill level, and maturity.

Gefreiter - The first rank attained upon joining the Arm.
Unteroffizier - Normally reached after a year in the Arm.
Feldwebel - Squad leader or vice Squad leader.
Hauptfeldwebel - Platoon leader or vice Company leader.
Stabsfeldwebel - Vice Company leader or Company leader
Leutnant - Company leader.
Hauptmann - Battalion leader. The last rank whereby a Midian remains in combat service.

KAMPFGRUPPEN AND THE 5 ARMY GROUPS

Arms are separated into battalions. Battalions from every Arm are then organized by higher command into a combined Arms division known as a Kampfgruppe. Although Kampfgruppe vary in size, it is generally the 2nd largest formation in the Midian armed forces. Kampfgruppen are assigned by their region to the 5 Army groups (North, South, East, West, Central)

Major - Staff command position in a Kampfgruppe.
Oberst - Staff command position in a Kampfgruppe or vice Kampfgruppe leader.
General - Kampfgruppe leader.
Feldmarschall - Army group leader.
