TITANES

Jonah Blair
Occupation : Executive Officer, Sierra Unit
Employer : Titanes Security
Brief History : Joined the Army at a young age. Started out a Ranger, but soon became a Green Beret. Later accepted into Delta Force. Fought in almost every conflict with American involvement. Headhunted by Titanes Security through his wife, Michelle Blair. Initially rejected the offer, but accepted their second one. Retired from the Army at the age of 39, and the rank of Sergeant Major. In Titanes, he led PMC operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, till the formation of the Titanes Special Unit, of which he put in charge of. During WW3, the unit was the first PMC unit to fight in India, and subsequently in Eastern Europe. Later, against Jonah's wishes, they were recalled, and assigned to protect Titanes interests in Tierra. Safe from the destruction occurring in the rest of the world, Jonah would then reform the unit into the Sierra Unit, which he would personally train into one of the most formidable units of Operators in the Conglomerate.

CERBERUS

Steve 'Chance' Ferrer
Occupation : Chief Executive Officer
Employer : Cerberus Inc.
Brief History : Previously a Lieutenant Colonel in the Marine Corps. Served as XO of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit during WW3. The 13th MEU was involved in the some of the heaviest fighting in the American theater. They were redeployed to Midway as part of the American counter-offensive plan, which would later be canceled at the start of the nuclear offensive. They would remain at Midway for the duration of the war, and beyond. When they eventually returned to the mainland, the devastation shocked them. Unsure of what to do, they remained at their landing point, and established a temporary base. News of their arrival then reached the Conglomerate, who immediately dispatched envoys to contact them. They would update the Marines on the situation, and then make them an offer; to join the Conglomerate as their own independent PMC. The commander, Colonel Robert Madison, refused the offer, much to the disapproval of his subordinates, especially Lt. Col. Steve. This would result in a coup, leading to the assassination of Colonel Madison. Steve, now in control, then accepted the Conglomerate offer, leading to the formation of Cerberus Inc.

INQ - People 01a - Leading Board of Directors

The Conglomerate is presided over by a Leading Board of Directors, consisting of the directors of the 10 leading companies in the Conglomerate. The Board is reformed every term, which consists of 2 years. During each reform, a neutral party will determine each company's value over the course of the previous term. The top 10 company directors will then receive invitations for a chair on the Board (the invitation my be rejected at the discretion of the director). When the Board is formed, an election takes place to determine the Chairman.

INQ - Factions 03a, Institutions

Due to the wide and varied fields of scientific research done within the Echelon, a system of Institutions was set up to allow easy management of resources. Each Institution governs it's own field of science, and is led by an Overseer. The Overseers of every Institution form the Council.

Listed below are some of the Institutions.

Institution of Engineering
Overseer : Walter Schmidt
The largest Institution, their main contribution comes from their bio-engineering research, specifically the breakthroughs in cybernetic organisms, or cyborgs. Cyborgs form a large component of the Echelon's fighting strength.

Institution of Computer Sciences
Overseer : Zhang Lin
Their highly advanced Robotics provide the Echelon with all the assisted manpower it requires. A wide variety of combat models form an able complement to their armada.

Institution of Psychology
Overseer : Stefan Oslowieck
Leaders in Psychic research. Three different departments exist for it; Kinesis, Stasis, and Genesis. They often conduct experiments on live subjects captured from the wastelands.

Institution of Chemistry
Overseer: Carl Alder
Unrestrained research into the effects of chemicals has led them to create many volatile compounds. Bio-weapons, enhancement drugs, and even substances that cause severe mutations form just some of their bizarre repertoire.

INQ - Factions 03, The Echelon

Of the 3 major factions in Inquisition, the Echelon is considered the 'youngest'. Their rapid rise to power in the post-apocalyptic landscape is mainly the result of the immense technological advantage they hold over their rivals.

THE ECHELON

As the Nuclear winter raged on, all went well in the Midian fortress as they prepared themselves for the task ahead. But cracks soon began to show in their solidarity, as old grudges began to take form. It was a highly popular Midian belief, although seldom mentioned, that one of the greatest reasons for the downfall of Humans was their over-reliance on science. Midians looked upon science with distrust, and for House Ferdinand, all they could do was to ignore their sentiments.

However, a rumor soon began to spread amongst the Midian populace. The origins of the rumor were unknown, but there are some within the higher circles of authority who believe that it started from some officials in House Friedrich. The rumor was regarding the Inquisition virus, the deadly bio-weapon that spread like wildfire worldwide during those turbulent years. During the years of World War 3, a Midian investigative team had been working to discover the origins of Inquisition. They focused their efforts in Africa, that being where the Inquisition virus was first discovered. After months of investigative worked, they were led to a hidden facility deep in the jungles of central Africa, where they would discover a shocking truth.

The deserted laboratory was indeed where the virus was created. The small, but highly advanced facility had all the equipment necessary to manufacture the bio-weapon. Chemical testing also found traces of the virus all over the area, and large amounts of inquillite ore were discovered locked within a store room. Although the team initially presumed that the laboratory was abandoned, the discovery of several corpses within a safe room changed their conclusions. It seemed that an accident had led to an outbreak of the virus within the facility, during which a lockdown was engaged, and the occupants evacuated to the safe room. However, through some unknown factor, the virus managed to slip into the safe room, killing all within it. Evidence found however, did not indicate that the virus leaked out of the facility, as the lockdown was still in place when the team arrived, and the seals were found to be working perfectly. Hacking into the database also failed to produce any information regarding the origin of funding of the operation. The only clue they had left were the corpses in the safe room.

Using the facility to aid them, they identified all the corpses. All of them were prominent scientists, mostly specializing in the fields of bio-chemical engineering, and they came from varied nationalities. They could find no evidence linking the operation to any nation or group. But there was one more detail uncovered. The scientists were all Midians.

The rumor that Midian scientists were the ones who created the virus spread like wildfire amongst the populace, and soon, House Ferdinand found themselves unable to ignore it any longer. They protested against the claims, saying that no proof existed that showed the rumor to be true. Their protests fell on deaf ears, and the people demanded answers. The Head of House Ferdinand, Kurt Strauss, convened an emergency meeting of the Heads to settle the situation.

What occurred during this meeting has been considered highly confidential, and no details on it have ever been revealed. All that is known is that after the meeting, Head Ferdinand was seen to stagger out of the council room, an intense look of shock in his face. Immediately following, House Ferdinand then shut themselves in for one week, during which little activity was seen to happen within the House. After that, the officials of House Ferdinand, led by Kurt Strauss, called for a gathering in the great hall. There they would announce their self-imposed exile.

The exodus into the wastelands was highly treacherous, and many of them would not make it. They searched for a new home, with little luck, as all they found was devastation and more wasteland. That luck was to change, as on the 28th day of their exodus, they would chance upon an unoccupied bunker. Originally a military installation, it was outfitted with all the necessary requirements for a large number of people to dwell in. Overjoyed at their find, they moved into their new home, Bunker 64.

Once they had settled in, they then began exploring the surrounding landscapes. Some distance from Bunker 64 lay a ruined city, and after some exploration, they made an interesting discovery. Hiding in the basement of the city hall was a group of survivors. Among these survivors were several government officials, who before the nuclear winter, had been on their way to Tierra. They had much knowledge of the surrounding area, but the greatest information they yielded was the location of a government research facility, hidden in the mountains. Having gotten all the information they needed, they saw no need in bringing the survivors back to their Bunker, where they would just be more mouths to feed. The survivors were then killed in cold blood. After that, they sent out an expedition to survery the condition of the hidden facility. When they got there, they found that the facility was still inhabited, the researchers there having shut themselves in during the nuclear winter. Although distrustful at first, the researchers soon began to warm up to the Midian scientists, and they agreed to join them.

Over the next few months, they would consolidate their power. They established themselves as the Echelon, promoting their belief of 'Free Science', or rather, science without boundaries.

INQ - Factions 02a - Midian Military Structure

The armed forces of the Midians are organized into distinct formations that follow their basic familial structure. It comprises mostly of specialists, each highly trained and talented within their specific skill sets, but otherwise lacking in others. There are numerous specialist corps, each refered to as an Arm. Soldiers from each arm are then organized into battle groups, or Kampfgruppen.

ARMS

Due to their unique genetic evolution, Midians possess unique abilities beyond that of humans. The abilities differ among Midians of different bloodlines; those that share a common bloodline tend to have similar abilities. As such, each Arm in the Midian forces consists mainly of Midians from the same bloodline.

Some of the Arms that exist in the Midian Armed Forces are:

Gespenst (Wraiths) - Agile, dextrous hunters that wield only throwing weapons and trained in hand to hand combat.
Luftjagers (Airborne Hunters) - Versatile airborne soldiers equipped with jetpacks.
Sturmtruppen (Storm Troopers) - Shock troops. Their superhuman strength allows them to easily wield heavy weapons and melee weapons.
Gerbirgsjager (Mountain Huntsmen) - Mountaineers who are able to negotiate and fight in any terrain.
Pioniere (Pioneer) - Combat engineers. Valuable support units.
Zauberer (Illusionist) - Psychic soldiers that use illusions and mind tricks to deceive the enemy.

Most Midian youths begin their service in more basic roles:

Grenadier - Assault Infantry.
Jager - Light Infantry.
Psychisch - Psychihc warfare troops.

Youth soldiers begin their service in the basic Arms. Youth soldiers are organized to squads typically ranging from 4-7 people, each led and taught by a squad leader, a senior Midian of age 20-30. Squads rotate annually, allowing youths to meet other youths of their bloodline, in turn allowing them to mature through their relationships. Squad leaders determine when a youth has reached a skill and maturity level where they will be fit to train in a specialist role. The youth will be counseled by his Squad Leader on which specialist Arm he is suitable for, but the decision lies with the youth himself.

At this point, the youth is no longer considered a youth, and is henceforth referred to as an adult. After making his decision, the youth is then transferred to his new Arm. Progression in the Arm is determined by several factors, namely leadership, skill level, and maturity.

Gefreiter - The first rank attained upon joining the Arm.
Unteroffizier - Normally reached after a year in the Arm.
Feldwebel - Squad leader or vice Squad leader.
Hauptfeldwebel - Platoon leader or vice Company leader.
Stabsfeldwebel - Vice Company leader or Company leader
Leutnant - Company leader.
Hauptmann - Battalion leader. The last rank whereby a Midian remains in combat service.

KAMPFGRUPPEN AND THE 5 ARMY GROUPS

Arms are separated into battalions. Battalions from every Arm are then organized by higher command into a combined Arms division known as a Kampfgruppe. Although Kampfgruppe vary in size, it is generally the 2nd largest formation in the Midian armed forces. Kampfgruppen are assigned by their region to the 5 Army groups (North, South, East, West, Central)

Major - Staff command position in a Kampfgruppe.
Oberst - Staff command position in a Kampfgruppe or vice Kampfgruppe leader.
General - Kampfgruppe leader.
Feldmarschall - Army group leader.
